How to Book the NAATI CCL Exam:
Step-by-Step for Indonesian Candidates

Before You Start: What to Have Ready

The booking process has two separate phases — submitting your application (which takes about 10 minutes) and then selecting a date after approval (which requires a separate login a few days later). You cannot do both in one sitting. Have the following ready before you begin Phase 1:

  • A passport-style photo of your face — similar to a passport photo, clear background, face clearly visible. JPEG or PNG, file size typically under 5MB. This is different from your ID document.
  • A scan of your identity document — your current Australian passport, overseas passport, or Australian driver's licence. NAATI will reject your application without this.
  • Your email address — use one you check regularly. All NAATI communications come from noreply@naati.com.au. Add this to your safe senders list now.
  • A credit or debit card — for the $814 exam fee at Step 5. Payment is made through the myNAATI portal.
  • Do not use a work, university, or library computer — their security settings often block the NAATI exam platform. Use a personal device.
Important — read this first: NAATI updated the CCL pass mark in 2026. The current pass mark is 63 out of 90, with a minimum of 29 per dialogue. Some older guides (including some of our earlier posts) reference 57/90 and 21/45 — these figures are outdated. Always check naati.com.au for the current marking criteria.

Check Available Dates First
naati.com.au/test-date/ — before you create an account

Before you create a myNAATI account or submit anything, go to naati.com.au/test-date/ and search for Indonesian CCL dates. This is a public page — no login required.

Why do this first? Because NAATI dates for Indonesian fill up, and the approval process takes 2 business days. If no dates are available when you check, keep monitoring — dates are released on a rolling basis and cancellations open up spots. Knowing the landscape before you start the application helps you plan your timeline realistically.

All times are Australian Eastern Time (AET — Sydney/Melbourne time). If you are in Perth, Darwin, Adelaide, or Queensland, convert carefully. A 9:00 AM AEST test is 7:00 AM in Perth. Getting the time zone wrong is one of the most common and most avoidable exam-day problems.

Submit Your CCL Application
Log in → Submit an Application → CCL Test → Indonesian

Once logged in, click "Submit an Application" from your myNAATI dashboard. Select CCL Test, then choose Indonesian as your language. You will then be taken to the application form.

The two most important parts of the application are your photo and your ID document. NAATI will reject your application if either is missing or does not meet their requirements.

Photo requirements: Passport-style face photo, clear background, no hats or sunglasses, face clearly visible. The same standards NAATI uses to verify your identity on exam day. A blurry or obscured photo will slow down your application.

Accepted identity documents: current Australian passport, overseas passport (current), Australian driver's licence, or other NAATI-accepted documents listed at naati.com.au/resources/application-requirements/. Your student card, Medicare card, or proof-of-age card are not accepted.

Wait for Application Approval
Typically 2 business days — email from noreply@naati.com.au

After submitting, NAATI will review your application — checking your photo, your ID document, and your personal details. This typically takes 2 business days, though it can occasionally take up to a week during high-demand periods.

You will receive an email from noreply@naati.com.au once your application is processed. Add this address to your safe senders list now to avoid the email going to spam.

The approval email from NAATI. If you don't see it within 3 business days, check spam — then contact info@naati.com.au.
If your application is rejected: NAATI will tell you why. The most common reason is a missing or unreadable ID document. Re-upload a clearer scan and resubmit. You do not need to create a new account — just update your application and resubmit.

Your booking confirmation screen. Note the reschedule deadline — 8 days before the test. The system check link is in both this screen and your confirmation email.

What the system check covers

  • Install the ProctorExam Chrome extension on your laptop (you will be prompted during the check)
  • Install the ProctorExam app on your phone or tablet (34MB, Android 8+ or iOS 15.8+)
  • Test your camera — NAATI requires a clear view of your face
  • Test your microphone — the built-in laptop microphone is fine; no headsets or earphones allowed
  • Test your internet speed — minimum 10 Mbps download, 1.5 Mbps upload, latency under 25ms
  • No headsets, headphones, or earphones during the actual test — this is a change from earlier guidance. Use your laptop's built-in microphone and speakers.
No headsets allowed in the 2026 exam. This is different from what some older guides say. The current NAATI requirement is built-in laptop microphone and speakers only — no USB headsets, no earphones, no AirPods. Check naati.com.au for the latest equipment requirements before your test date.

Rescheduling and Cancelling Your Test

Life happens. Here is the exact policy, straight from NAATI — confirmed as current as of July 2026:

SituationWhat to doCost
Want to change your date (more than 8 days before test) Log into myNAATI → Manage My Tests → Reject your current session → Select a new date Free — no rescheduling fee
Want to change your date (within 8 days of test) Cannot be rescheduled. Must cancel instead. Cancellation policy applies (see below)
Want to cancel (at least 1 hour before test start) Log into myNAATI → Manage My Tests → Cancel → Apply for refund 75% refund of $814 = ~$610.50 returned within 14 days
No-show or cancel after test starts No refund available $814 forfeited
Rescheduling is free and easy — as long as you do it at least 8 days before your test. If you are unsure whether you can sit on your booked date, reschedule earlier rather than cancelling. Cancelling costs you 25% of the fee; rescheduling costs nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the NAATI CCL exam fee in 2026?
$814 AUD, paid at the time of selecting your test date in myNAATI. This includes the exam, marking, and credential letter if you pass. Always check naati.com.au for the current fee as it is subject to change.
How long does NAATI take to approve my CCL application?
Typically 2 business days. NAATI will email you from noreply@naati.com.au when your application is processed. If you don't hear within 3 business days, check your spam folder. If it's not there, contact info@naati.com.au.
What is the NAATI CCL pass mark in 2026?
63 out of 90, with a minimum of 29 marks in each individual dialogue. Both conditions must be met — a total of 63 is not sufficient if either dialogue is below 29. Note: some older articles cite 57/90 and 21/45 — these are outdated figures.
Can I reschedule my NAATI CCL exam?
Yes, and it's free — as long as you do it at least 8 days before your test. Log into myNAATI, go to Manage My Tests, reject your current session, and select a new date. You cannot reschedule within 8 days of the test — you would need to cancel instead.
Can I use a headset for the NAATI CCL exam?
No. As of current NAATI requirements, headsets, headphones, and earphones are not permitted during the CCL test. You must use your laptop's built-in microphone and speakers. This is a change from earlier guidance — always check the current technical requirements on naati.com.au before your exam.
How long is the NAATI CCL credential valid?
5 years from the issue date, for credentials issued from 9 August 2022 onwards. Credentials issued before that date have a 3-year validity. The credential must be current at the time of your visa invitation and visa grant to claim the 5 immigration points.
What if I fail? Can I rebook?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of attempts. Each rebooking is a new application at the current exam fee ($814). Before rebooking, request your Dialogue 1 and Dialogue 2 score breakdown from NAATI to identify where you lost marks. Give yourself at least 4 weeks of targeted practice before sitting again.
I'm not in Sydney or Melbourne — what time is my exam?
All NAATI exam times are listed in Australian Eastern Time (AET — Sydney/Melbourne time). If you are in Perth (AWST), subtract 2 hours (or 3 during daylight saving). If you are in Adelaide (ACST), subtract 30 minutes. Darwin (ACST, no daylight saving): subtract 1.5 hours during NSW daylight saving. Always double-check your local time using timeanddate.com before exam day.
